Common Video IssuesOne of the most common video issues is not having the required player to play a video. If you're having this problem, there's a player called VLC that plays all of the following formats: MPEG, MP3, AVI, ASF, WMV, MP4, MOV, WMA, OGG, OGM 3GP, Real, H.263 and FLV (a kind of Flash video) and more kinds of videos, as well. Something not everyone realizes is that high quality comes at a price - that price is that the videos are larger in file size, and take longer to download. Or if you're streaming high quality videos, they make take longer to start playing and occasionally pause so they can "catch up". Or if your connection is almost fast enough, but not quite, you may see the movie "sputter" as it plays. The fix for this is whenever possible to download the video that's sputtering or pausing and play it from your harddrive. Or in many cases, if you don't want to download the video, you can wait till it's full loaded - usually several minutes - and then WITHOUT RELOADING THE PAGE hit the stop button and then the play button. In most cases, that takes care of the problem. If you're on a slower connection - 768k or less, and that does include ISDN and dialup users - you probably will need to download the videos, but if you do run into a site that has videos of a speed you can stream without problems, there's often another problem. That is that some sites - not all - create videos of a bitrate you can watch, but make the videos too big, which makes them blurry. And there's a fix for that, too. Watch the video at 50% of it's full size. That sort of tightens things up and the large blurry video will be smaller but it will also be clearer. And here's one last issue for you Firefox users. Sometimes you may be unable to play a WMV when you're in a member area. Well, Firefox has tighter security, so your best solution here is simply to download the video first and then watch it.
